3 Crawls & 2 Nests (5 & 6) on Thursday
3 crawls this morning. A 31”Crawl at marker 59.2 resulted in nest#5. A 29”Crawl at marker 69 was a false crawl. A 35”Crawl at marker78.5 resulted in nest #6 with 160 eggs that were relocated above the high tide line.
Another crawl but no nest found
We had a 36” false crawl at Marker 66. It looked like a nest but we dug for over an hour in hard sand and did not find eggs.
2 Crawls, maybe not loggerheads
We had two false crawls this morning. One was 39” at marker 66 and the other was 43” on the river in the Baptists. We had nest #2 this morning at Marker 55.5 (Baptists’ Steps area) with a 34” crawl. Our new morning patroller, Barbara, was happy to see her first crawl and help with protecting the nest.
