Nest #1 had another crab hole this morning which again left the nest cavity exposed. The storm was too strong to do anything about it on patrol. We feared the rain would inundate the nest, so Team 0 went out and did the excavation/inventory before more rain arrived. There were 2 hatchlings at the bottom of the nest. They were under the hatched egg shells and a lot of very heavy wet sand. We were glad we could free them to go out to the ocean. There were several families from the houses behind the nest and walking on the beach that got to see them go!
Nest #1 Inventory:
- Live Hatchlings- 2
- Dead Hatchlings- 3 (they were crab victims and ants had invaded)
- Hatched Eggs-107, + lots of egg shells pieces
- Unhatched- 6
