Happy Oak Island Day! We had 2 Nests today and another False Crawl. The False Crawl was in the same area as the last 2 days, high on a dune slope. Mama started a nest cavity and abandoned it.
Nests #46 and #47 are in safe locations and finally in a low populated nest area! These mamas decided to spread the joy!
Unfortunately, Nest #46 had HUMAN footprints on TOP of the nesting area. This could have damaged the eggs or caused the area to be hard to “read” by Morning Patrol. Fortunately, the eggs were found unharmed. If you are not sure of what turtle tracks or a nesting crawl look like, please check out the gallery below to see how we mark these.
If you come upon a Sea Turtle Crawl area, PLEASE DO NOT WALK ON THE NESTING AREA OR THE CRAWL TRACKS!
Nest #46
Crawl Width: 97cm/38″
Nest #47
Crawl Width: 92cm/36″
Have a nice weekend and enjoy all the festivities!
