Caswell Beach Turtle Mamas loving the Sand Dunes!

Caswell Beach Sea Turtle Nest totals as of today are 19 nests and 3 false crawls! That puts us at just 1 nest fewer than we had last year at this time. It remains to be seen whether this will be slower season this year or not!

Both Nest #18 and Nest #19 were laid in great dune areas with lots of protection, so our sea turtle mamas are working hard to find the right spots.  There’s also lots of dune grass for them to contend with as well though.

Yesterday, we enjoyed the sunrise with a baby gator in the surf at the East Point on the Cape Fear River.

Enjoy the photos and check back for our updates every few days!
