Finding a Sea Turtle Nest Can Take a Village!

Today’s Sea Turtle Mama took a circuitous and windy route before she laid her nest, making it a bit tricky to locate. Our morning patrol team dug wide and far, using the standard locators guided by the mama’s tracks. But some of our more experienced team members just have the knack, and helped locate this Mama’s 138 eggs – a large nest indeed! Because she laid inside the tideline the nest was relocated to higher ground.

Over the weekend we had several false crawls and a number of additional nests. A few needed relocation, but some of the sea turtles mamas are enjoying the new expanse of the beach and climbing high.

We are enjoying our beach visitors and all their questions! As always, we appreciate the interest and support. Thanks for all the calls, keep them coming!
