Fact or Fiction? Does hot weather determine whether sea turtles are girls or boys? Well, there is a saying we use – hot chics and cool dudes. When temps are warmer during incubation, it’s been proven that more hatchlings are female, and when it’s cooler there are more males.
With the scorching temps in recent weeks, our nests are very busy hatching, and we are guessing alot of our turtle babies are ladies. But it’s starting to cool off, so the guys will get their chance soon! In one of our most recent hatches, these turtle babies were anxious to cool down in the ocean.
This is just one of the many hatches and resulting inventories we’ve seen in recents days. Here are a few other highlights from our Caswell Beach Turtle Teams.
